It is the responsibility of Artist to control the the cultural consciousness. We have a duty as artist to combat government and corporate propaganda that attempts to control our thoughts.

Watercolor piece by Adam Stewart

This piece I created is of a pregnant Ukrainian blacksmith destroying a Russian AK barrel while a peace dove watches. It is a reality that women, children and the most vulnerable in our global community are being targeted by Russian imperialism and aggression.

I was a poet before I was a watercolor artist. I wrote a Japanese styled Haiku about the war. A Haiku is a 3 sentence poem with 5/7/5 syllables and a reference to the seasons. This poem was inspired by the story of an elderly woman who was said to hand Sunflower seeds to Russian soldiers telling them to put them in their pocket so when they died there would be at least sunflowers.

Title: Sunflowers for Soldiers

A bomb drops in Kyiv
A Gift of Sunflower Seeds
Let them grow in spring

A Derivative of a Photograph by Adam Stewart.

This piece is not for sale as it is a derivative work of a photograph I saw online. But I wanted to share it in support of Ukraine. Let us as a global community of artists keep the Ukrainian people in our hearts. Do not buy into propaganda that seeks to justify aggression with excuses. There is never an excuse to kill innocent people. Murder is Murder. We must promote peace.
